Free Vaccines – Are You Eligible?
Many Australians are eligible for free vaccinations under state and national programs, including the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
Free Flu Vaccines May Be Available If You Are:
- 65 years and over - higher risk of severe flu complications
- Children aged 2–5 - via nasal spray (FluMist/similar) rather than injection, likely to boost uptake in young kids
- Pregnant women - flu during pregnancy carries higher risks for both mother and baby; recommended at any stage of pregnancy
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (6 months+)
- People with certain chronic conditions - things like heart disease, chronic lung disease (including asthma), diabetes, kidney disease, and some other conditions that raise complication risk
